Love is in the air— at least Ken’s love is. We’ve been seeing Ken billboards all over Los Angeles, all with the same message: Ken wants Barbie back! After being together for more than 40 years, the two broke up in 2004 on Valentines Day (Harsh! Looks like someone could benefit from “How to Survive a Crush from Your Crush”) Now Ken is pulling all of the stops to get the love of his life back. According to him, and Match.com, they’re meant to be together. All of this talk of Ken’s campaign to win Barbie’s heart got us thinking about other romantic gestures that made our hearts flutter.
Lloyd Dobler (John Cusack) in Say Anything
After his love decided it just wouldn’t work out between the two of them, Lloyd was crushed, but he just couldn’t take no for an answer! He showed up outside her window, held a boombox over his head and blasted their special song. Awwww!
Ronald Weasley (Rupert Grint) in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1
Ron had had enough of trolling around the world in constant danger so he left Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and Hermione (Emma Watson). We’ll forgive him for that, though, because when he came to his senses, it was his undying love for Hermione that brought them back together. Now isn’t that sweet?
Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner), The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
Jacob is so hot, well in more ways than one. Not only did he make sure to protect Bella from the evil Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard), he used his, um, resources to keep Bella from freezing to death. Best. Blanket. Ever.
Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), The Twilight Saga: New Moon
Crushed at the thought of losing Bella (Kristen Stewart), Edward flew (kind of) all the way to Italy to make the ultimate sacrifice. He just couldn’t imagine life without her! OK, so Eddie’s a bit of a drama king, but at least this Romeo is easy on the eyes— sparkles and all.
Noah (Ryan Gosling), The Notebook
Noah is living proof that love never fails! Distance, time and even other people couldn’t tear these two a part. When he went away, he wrote her constantly; things got rough and he never gave up on Allie. He even saw her when people thought she wasn’t in her right mind.
Ah, we love Love. To get the play-by-play on the drama in Mattel Land check out BarbieandKen.com. If that doesn’t work out, Whitney Port is looking for Ken, hosting “Genuine Ken: The Search for the Great American Boyfriend” every Tuesday. Do you think Barbie should take Ken back? Who else should we add to this list?
