 Hi Veronica!
My skin is very oily. What is the best routine for this skin type and what ingredients should I look for in face products?

For oily skin don’t use a cleanser that is rich in oil, it will clog your pores. Regular cleansing of your face morning and night, an exfoliating scrub and using a mask once a week will get rid of any dead and dried up skin cells. Then new ones will take the place of dried up cells and your skin will be smoother and clear. Use warm water and find a cleanser that is recommended for oily skin. Gently wash your face in upward, circular movements with your fingertips. Then use your hands or a 100% cotton washcloth, rinse off your cleanser with warm water, then cool water. Pat your skin dry with a clean 100% cotton towel (so you don’t irritate or scratch your skin). After you have cleansed your face it is time to use a toner or astringent. A toner or astringent will remove any extra oil or dirt that the cleanser has left behind.

Aloe Vera, Chamomile, Cucumber Extract, Spearmint Oil, Peppermint, Glycolic Acid and Salicylic Acid, are all good ingredients for oily skin cleansers. Stay away from cleansers that have the ingredient isoproply myristate. It’s an aggravator of acne and will make your acne worse!

Cleansing is the first step in a skincare regimen, and it’s important to create the proper canvas for serums, treatments and moisturizers.
