Keke PalmerKeke Palmer, actress on Nickelodeon’s “True Jackson, VP,” proves that with a little bit of hard work and determination, anything is possible. This is the exact kind of girl we at ME love! Her recent return to music just adds another thing to our “Why Keke is awesoME” list.

Keke and Interscope records just released the official video for “The One You Call” off of her upcoming album, dropping this year. Keke actually started out pursuing a musical career before she moved into movies and television.  She’s had several songs released since 2005 and even released an album in 2007 through Atlantic Records, though they parted ways since then. The girl has perseverance, not giving up when all seemed to be lost and it has brought her a long way with a new album and what seems to be a good perspective of who she is.

The latest single, “The One You Call,” is about a young woman with enough knowledge and confidence to say to a guy that she won’t be the rebound girl, once the guy is ditched by  his girlfriend. She is smart enough to know and say that not only will she not be that type of girl, but she knows that she is worth more than that. That message alone shows that she is empowering and a very strong young woman and the fact that she can carry a tune makes it even better!

Catch her today during her live Ustream chat at 6PM ET/3PM PT on Ustream.tv/KekePalmer to get the inside track on her new movie “Joyful Noise” (She’s shooting it in Atlanta with Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton), and to just see how she’s been.

Tell ME how you feel about Keke’s move back into the music business? Is it worth a shot or should she just stick to acting?

We don’t know about you guys, but we’ve been counting down the days Pretty Little Liars comes back on ABC Family! With the last episode airing all the way back in August, we cannot wait for the new episode and continue on where they left us hanging! With everyone still confused about Alison’s whereabouts and wondering who “A” is, we can’t wait to watch all of the drama unfold and the secrets revealed! Last time, we saw that Hanna got into an accident (Ouch!) and may have an idea on who A might be, leaving Spencer, Aria, and Emily anticipating who it is that knows all of their secrets, and why someone would want to use the secrets against them!

Don’t worry, if you haven’t kept up with the show and want in on the latest gossip and drama, there will be a back to back marathon leading up to the mid-season premiere from 11:00am – 8:00pm on Monday, January 3, so you can catch up on everything. Keep an eye out throughout the rest of the season, we won’t give too much away, but there may or may not be a new character joining the cast! 😉

With all of the drama unfolding, what are you looking forward to the most for the rest of the season? Who do YOU think A is?  -Marjorie Yan

Dev's peep game

By now, everyone should have heard Far East Movement’s ‘Like A G6’ excessively on the radio, but if you’re like me, you didn’t know that the idea from this song came from another artist. Sampling is rather common in the music industry and that’s exactly what Far East Movement did with their hit song by sampling a song from singer, Dev.  So, who is Dev, aside from being the voice behind the chorus to ‘Like A G6?’ Let’s delve into the world that is Dev.

  •  She was born Devin Tailes on July 2, 1989 and is of Mexican and Portuguese descent.
  •  When she was four, she was part of the U.S. development program when she started swimming.
  •  After posting a cover of an Amy Winehouse song on Myspace, she was discovered by indie hip hop duo The Cataracs and dropped out of college to pursue her career.
  •  The video for “Booty Bounce,” the song which is sampled in Far East Movement’s song, was released in August 2010

  •  She was signed to Universal Republic in October 2010
  •  Her first official single for Universal Republic is “Bass Down Low” and was released in November 2010 to the radio (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOAMfUJ3tsc)
  • She describes her music as SWAG-POP, independently popular while others have described her as electro-crunk and electro hop.
  •  Dev has been compared to the likes of fellow musician, Ke$ha, because of their style but Dev believes that if people will listen, they will see her for who she really is.
  •  She has been influenced from all sides of the musical spectrum, citing influences ranging from Elton John to Incubus to MIA and even saying Eminem changed her life when she was younger.
  •  She has been working with the Cataracs since 2009 on her debut album, set to be released in 2011. To tide you over, she just released a new song, “Killer,” on December 27, 2010.

Now that you’ve learned who the girl is behind ‘Like A G6,’ tell ME: Do you think she has what it takes to be a huge star or will she blend in with the likes of Ke$ha and Lady GaGa?
